Announcing the 4th Annual Chefs’ Playground Gala on May 19


Please mark your calendars for our 4th annual Chefs’ Playground gala on May 19. 20 of the city’s most sought-after chefs and mixologists will gather at Terzo Piano for the 4th annual Chefs’ Playground, an intimate and unique gala experience. Terzo Piano Chef/Partner Tony Mantuano, alongside hosts Bon Appétit Management Company, curates this experience to benefit our school.

On Thursday, May 19th from 7p.m. – 10p.m. at Terzo Piano (159 East Monroe), guests will enjoy tastings of childhood favorites from participating chefs. Past participants have included local legends like Rick Bayless (Frontera Grill, Topolobampo and Xoco), and Paul Kahan (Avec, Big Star, Blackbird, The Publican and Publican Quality Meats), Chris Pandel (The Bristol, Balena, Swift and Sons), and Lee Wolen (BOKA), Erling Wu-Bower (Nico Osteria), alongside food television favorites like Iron Chef Jose Garces (Mercat/Garces Group), Food Network host Jeff Mauro (Pork and Mindy’s,) Marcela Valladolid (Author and Host, Food Network’s “Mexican Made Easy” and “The Kitchen”), and Top Chef’s Sarah Grueneberg (Monteverde) and Stephanie Izard (Top Chef, Girl & the Goat, Little Goat). A ratio of 25 guests per chef allows every ticket holder to feel like an industry insider.

In addition to a star-studded chef lineup, celebrity hosts and guests have included Kathy Hart from Eric and Kathy in the Morning, Billy Dec from the Today Show, Windy City Live and more, and Actor/Advocate Adrian Grenier from HBO’s Entourage.

Chicago’s hottest restaurant groups and innovators in the food scene gather behind Academy for Global Citizenship’s model, which promotes positive nutrition and student wellness are integral to achieving strong academic results. “What AGC does is nothing short of amazing,” said Fedele Bauccio, CEO of Bon Appétit Management Company, leaders in local sourcing and the Art Institute’s sustainable food service partners. “We too believe that you’re never too young to start learning how to protect the planet. We’re proud to be part of this team effort.”

As an international learning laboratory and incubator of scalable innovation, AGC is dedicated to transforming systems of education, including the construction of a renewable energy prototype campus on an urban farm. At last year’s gala, AGC announced the selection of Studio Gang Architects to design this sustainable new campus, which will serve as a new model for thoughtful school construction.

General Admission is $250 per person and includes a grazing-style dinner from celebrity chefs, signature cocktails from celebrated mixologists in addition to an open bar. VIP tickets are available at $375 per person, which includes an intimate pre-party from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. with exclusive chefs and mixologists.
