Next week, stakeholders from over 600 Illinois charter schools will gather for a day of speakers, panels and workshops on the theme “Our Students, Our Future: The Schools We Need Now.” The Illinois Network of Charter Schools (INCS) organizes this annual conference to provide space for charter school leaders, educators and advocates to collaborate, share of innovations and best practices, and inspire positive change.
AGC’s Founding Principal, Anne Gillespie, will help lead an “outcome accelerator”titled “Curiosity Not Compliance: Inquiry Strategies for the Classroom. As an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, AGC engages students in their learning through a structured process of inquiry that helps students and teachers employ questions as an effective tool for learning. Ms. Gillespie’s co-presenters are Mary Beth Cunat, the Principal at Wildwood World Magnet, a fellow IB World School and Kimberly Mitchell, the Founder and CEO of Inquiry Partners, an education consulting firm focused on fostering inquiry in schools. Ms. Mitchell will lead an interactive workshop on incorporating the five key inquiry strategies into the classroom.
