AGC Seeks After-School Coordinator and Site Supervisor

We are seeking to hire two individuals to assist with development and implementation of our after-school program. Our after-school program is focused on expanding upon and enriching our students experiences in arts, athletics, academics as well as environmental, entrepreneurial and social-justice learning.

After-School Coordinator

The Academy for Global Citizenship (AGC) is a non-profit Chicago public charter school, located on the underserved Southwest side of Chicago. Our innovative and holistic approach to education aims to foster systemic change and inspire the way society educates our future generations. We are producing a replicable model for learning in the 21st century, including the construction of a net-positive energy campus.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The After-School Coordinator ensures the safety and wellbeing of AGC students beyond the school day hours. He/She is tasked with building collaborative relationships with AGC families, non-profit partners and local instructors to offer creative, academic, and athletic enrichment for students after the school day.

After-School Coordination

  • Coordinate 3 trimesters of academic, athletic, and creative enrichment opportunities for AGC students in collaboration with the AGC Instructional Leadership Team (ILT)
  • Oversee registration and fee collection cycle in collaboration with ILT
  • Take an assets-based approach to building partnerships with local non-profits, highs schools, colleges and community-based instructors to staff the program
  • Build collaborative, empathic relationships with AGC families and teachers
  • Identify, apply, and secure relevant grant and sponsorship opportunities on an ongoing basis
  • Manage database of participants and hold families accountable for fee schedule
  • Manage supplies and equipment budget per trimester
  • Solicit regular feedback, evaluate, and analyze program performance in collaboration with ILT 

After-School Management

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of after-school snack, programming and dismissal
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive environment for all
  • Support teachers with behavior management and administrative needs
  • Be willing to jump in and sub for any class as needed
  • Take attendance and oversee smooth, safe dismissal procedure
  • Communicate regularly with teachers with parents regarding student behavior and performance
  • Communicate and collaborate with the other school’s site manager on a daily basis

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Entrepreneurial thinker with a desire to support the vision and mission of the Academy for Global Citizenship
  • Willingness and enthusiasm for doing whatever it takes to ensure the safety and well-being of the children and families.
  • Bachelor Degree in Psychology, Education, Social Work or related field
  • 1 to 2 years’ experience ideally in a school or after-school program
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

HOURS:

  • 25 hours/week: M-F, 1:00 pm-6:00 pm

After-School Management

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of after-school programing
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive environment for all
  • Support teachers with behavior management and administrative needs
  • Be willing to jump in and sub for any class as needed
  • Take attendance and oversee smooth, safe dismissal procedure
  • Communicate regularly with teachers with parents regarding student behavior and performance
  • Communicate and collaborate with the After-School Coordinator on a daily basis
  • Manage database of participants and hold families accountable for fee schedule
  • Manage supplies and equipment per trimester
  • In collaboration with the After-School Coordinator, market programming to AGC families.

  • Associates Degree
  • 1 to 2 years’ experience ideally in a school or after-school program
  • Bilingual in English & Spanish

HOURS:

  • 10+ hours/wk: M-F, 3:45 pm – 6:00 pm
