AGC’s founding principal Anne Gillespie is an exceedingly modest and incredibly capable human. Without so much as a whimper, she juggled managing a staff of 30, leading our school through the thorough International Baccalaureate certification process, and managing day-to-day duties at AGC while receiving a PHD from U.I.C. From time to time, we feel it necessary to go against her wishes and brag about her incredible accomplishments.
Last week, Ms. Gillespie was honored by one of her alma maters, National Louis University, with the Reach Award. The Reach Award recognizes individuals who have, through education, sought to improve themselves and their communities. National Louis University proudly honors those who have overcome personal adversity, are helping others to realize their own talents and skills, and have positively influenced and uplifted their communities through their work. Only four alumni were honored this year, from all graduating classes.
We are thrilled to see Ms. Gillespie honored for the many ways she has applied her own educational experiences towards improving educational opportunities for all Chicago’s children.
