Last week, Academy for Global Citizenship 2nd graders presented biographies of social activists to groups of parents, teachers, staff and their peers. They studied famous activists from every era as well as activists from their own community, including their own teachers for the culmination of a 6 week unit on “making our voices heard!”
During this unit, students had the opportunity to interview activists from our extended community, including a Kindergarten parent in the Chicago Police force! They conducted interviews and independent research and discussed the similarities and differences between different types of activism.
AGC’s curriculum, school culture, and engaged community work to foster mindful leaders who take action to positively impact their communities and the world beyond. We are proud of the AGC students, teachers, staff and parents who selflessly work to make our world a better place.
