AGC was honored to welcome the Deputy Secretary of Agriculture, Kathleen Merrigan, for breakfast this morning. Joining her was State Representative Daniel Burke and representatives from Chartwells-Thompson, the USDA, the Illinois Network of Charter Schools, Chicago Public Schools, the Illinois State Board of Education, the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Public Radio, and the Rachel Ray Foundation. Our guests ate a made-from-scratch breakfast, joined our first and second graders for yoga, went on a student-led garden tour, and participated in an awards ceremony for the USDA’s Healthier US School Challenge Gold Level with Distinction Award!
