AGC Students Meet Dr. Jane Goodall!

13 May

Last weekend, a group of our second graders, Ms. Harris, and Ms. Helma traveled to the Field Museum as part of Dr. Jane Goodall’s Roots and Shoots program.  Dr. Goodall is a remarkable woman, visionary, activist, and pioneer in the area of chimpanzee research and protection.  Her work at Gombe National Park in Tanzania has revolutionized our understanding of chimps.  She was the first to note that chimps use tools and are not vegetarians.  Dr. Goodall is also the only human to be accepted into chimpanzee society.  Dr. Goodall now travels the world speaking to audiences, often children, about the importance of protecting our planet and its animals.

Our students had a great time meeting Jane and were able to share their ideas for what our sustainable classrooms for our new school facility should look like!
